Anoushka Shankar

Anoushka Shankar is a Brit-American sitarist and musician. She was among the youngest and first female to win the British House of Commons Shield she's had 9 Grammy Awards nominations and was the first musician of Indian origin to perform live on stage and also serve as a presenter at the award ceremony. Anoushka Shakar, a young rising star on the Indian Sitar is Anoushka. She is a scholar and granddaughter of legendary Ravi Shankar. She was born 1982 in London. The first few years of her life were split between London and New Delhi. At New Delhi, she made her first appearance at only 13 years of age. In 1999, she completed her high school studies at Encinitas CA. Even though she's very young, Anouskha has an impressive performing and recording record. She has been performing with her father on stage for several years. Her first solo album, Anourag, was released in 1998. In 2002, she debuted her Grammy nominated album Live At Carnegie Hall. Stage performance is a important aspect of her life. She has performed in a variety of famous venues around the world. Anoushka isn't just a musician. In 2002 she published the book Bapi The love of My Live this is an illustrated biography that gives a special respect to her dad Ravi Shankar. In 2003, she was a Bharat Nathyam young dancer Dance Like a Man. Anoushka Shankar's professional career is continuing to develop and we are likely to see a variety of things from her in the years to be. Anoushka Shankar was born in England and spent a lot of her youth living between London and Delhi after which she moved to California in the state where she attended high school. Anoushka started her music studies at the age of nine. Four years later she performed her sitar debut in Delhi at her father's 75th birthday celebration. Anoushka, who accompanied her father on his worldwide tour, gained an impressive quantity of knowledge. As a teenager, she played at Carnegie Hall as part of Peter Gabriel's WOMAD as well as recorded with George Harrison. As a tribute to her status as a leading musician of Asian Arts, she was awarded the House of Commons Shield by British Parliament.
